Drill to Eliminate Wrist in the Putting Stroke
One of the biggest putting problems I see among amateurs is that they let their left wrist break down.
And once this happens, the putt falls apart.
So today, I have a quick video drill that will help you eliminate this fault from your putting.
Check it out here:

Did you know that nearly half of your shots in every round are putts? That’s right — almost HALF!

Hi CJ,
I’ve been using a mid-size putter grip recently and it really helps me alot.Seems like I can roll the ball much better.I also remember years ago Nick Faldo had a tip about using your shoulders. He placed a club under his arms up to his arm pits and then hit some putts. It feels weird but it makes you use your shoulders.Keep up the great work.Gary
Good advice,
I saw a video recently from Marius Filmalter that talked about putting with the core muscles. Basically the same principles which is keeping the wrists out of the stroke.
In practice I have used my scoring pencil or a long tee peg lodged behind my wristwatch to remind me and stop my wrist breaking.
CJ, because I putt left hand low, this is rarely a problem for me…but this excellent clip does provide an opportunity to raise the question of how instruction offered through the “upsell” may conflict with your core teachings. I am using your Signature Series to build a decent game. I have a history as a late beginner (mid-’50′s) with military and sports injuries…pretty bad knees. Inconsistent ball-striking, especially fat irons, has been my greatest malady and kept my scores in the 97-102 range for several years. I am working through your drills and getting good results overall. Now, the Marius Filwater material that your sales organization offered is superb, and doesn’t seem to conflict with your own putting instruction. But, there are significant deviations from your Perfect Connection driver technique and Bobby Wilson’s teaching, now also on offer. I have tried a couple of Bobby’s drills which were helpful and don’t conflict, but… Your students out here need to focus, methodically, and not get to ahead of ourselves, right? thanks again for your painstaking and skillful work, Jeep
