Get Power, Distance and Accuracy Into Your Game
Turning your golf game into a consistently powerful and accurate machine every time is simple. Unless… you’re making common rookie mistakes.
Most golfers quit on their golf shot. Extending through the shot with speed and accuracy gives you a straight powerful shot…again…. and again.
Common mistakes become bad habits. These habits are your biggest problem.
Hit the Golf Ball Further and Straighter
The good news is habits can be broken. Most habits take months to break. With the Power Secrets System you’ll start launching long-distance, pin-point accurate drives in no time at all. It’s incredible easy… once you know what to do.
Listen, even if your backswing and downswing are perfect, without the correct impact position it means nothing. Power, distance and accuracy needs to be put into your golf game. Without them your game is unpredictable.
Nearly everything about golf is natural – golf grip, stance, and even your swing. Following through with acceleration in your swing goes against human nature. Logical thinking says stop. Thinking about turning the club interferes with both power and accuracy.
Commitment drives the ball towards the target!
This is as much of a mental thing as it is a physical. Confidence breeds success. Dig deep inside yourself and find confidence in your swing. Suddenly your score drops dramatically. It’s that simple.
Golf is an easy game!
It’s easy… when you let the natural mechanics of your body do its job… block out the bad advice of teachers telling you “stay still”, “keep your eye on the ball” and “grip the club tight”.
Going against everything that you’ve been told seems ridiculous.
You’ve read these in every golf magazine, heard them from every club pro and all the experts again and again. You never see Pro golfers anchoring their head…or keeping their eye on the ball. It’s because it doesn’t help your game.
There’s no magical source of power and control. Tapping into the power and control that exists inside you adds yards every time.

Hi CJ
Up until a couple of years ago, although my swing had many flaws, I had managed to fashion a semi respectable game to 16-18 handicap, though limited playing opportunites due work committments and a search for a better swing has seen my handicap skyrocket to 21-23 and struggling to break a 100.
I have tried some online teaching including your Signature series and in desparation to find what works for me have checked out some others e.g. the likes of Bobby Wilson and Shawn Humphries as well as getting bombard with various swing tips from the Golf Tailor, most that contradict the previous one (will unsbscribe).
Admittedly I have probably not put in the time with your Signature Series and I think I originally misunderstood the concept of being connected and ended up with a cramped swing in an atempt to keep my arms “connected” which clearly did not work, hence the fiddling around with other tips.
Although some of the teachings have some differences it seems clear that creating width is essential.
I have gone back to look at the SS trying to get a better understanding of the swing mechanics and trying drills such as the L to L and right foot back.
I believe my main issue is the tendancy to spin my shoulders and come over the top creating pulls and slices, in particular off the tee, and of course it can go either way which has pretty much destroyed my confidence and leading to some ugly scores. I know that the short game is important though when you are constantly in the trees (or worse) off the tee it is a bit demoralising.
I need to concentrate on one avenue of information and I think the PCGS could help to get the fundamentals to rid myself of this awfull over the top problem and lack of confidence when standing over the ball i.e. the “mental game”.
I have looked at the package in your 360 Degree Golf System and hope that it is the way to go, in particular I like the idea of having some written manuals to explain some of the concepts. Are these delivered so that they can be read in iBooks/Kindle on an iPAD?
Can you tell me if the 360 Degree system has a clear process to help create a consitent, repeatable swing that will give me the tools combat my over the top issues and refind some power and accuracy.
PS: My left leg is approx 1/2 inch shorter than my right (I am RH), I am not sure if there are any tweaks in my set-up I should try to off-set this.
Cheers
Mike

HI CJ,
I have been following your instructions for some months now and there is a marked improvement in my game but also in the understanding of the swing. I am a senior lady golfer and hit the ball straight 90percent of the time but I am really struggling with distance. My other problem is that I hit all my irons the same lenght. Any suggestions? I have purchased the signature series.
Louvain
Louvain botha,
Thanks Louvain for the question. I am glad you are improving in your game and I am honored that you have trusted me with your golf game. Distance will mostly be generated with the L to L drill. Make sure you are hinging your wrists properly. The major issue for many females due to your hands being different than guys( you don’t have the fatty part on your hand like guys do) and this makes it easier to get the club in the palm versus the fingers of the left hand. Make sure your grip is correct and that you hinge the club with the L to L drill properly and this will help with the distance. The reason your clubs go the same distance is because of the lack of hinge. this tells me exactly what your doing and what is happening in the downswing is you are losing the lag and therefore you are adding loft to the longer irons. I know I can help you so please check your grip and work on the L to L drill a bunch. Please keep me informed.

Hi CJ ive been watching your free tips that were emailed to me only got to tip 4 & they stopped can you tell me why please thanks & great vids BTW
I read that the 3wood moi is unregulated down to13degrees. Why not set up a shaft and get enough head mass to reasonably pass for that basic driver look? Im theorizing my distance with such a “hot” faced 3wood has obvious advantages for a 15 handicap. Hope you get I am comparing my theory to a 10.5 degree driver. Please opine. John G Burkhalter
John,
Thanks John for the question. I have thought about this as well. The new adams three wood goes forever and have wondered why not build that with less loft, but as soon as they do this I am sure the USGA would step in and regulate that also so its probably best to leave it alone right now. Also remember that moi increases forgiveness and allows it to go straight. What club manufacturers have discovers is that as they increase moi then you eventually lose distance. That is why the clubs went square and triangular shape, but have gone a bit more back to the traditional look. I guess it is a balance act for the manufacturers and what the public wants…distance.

Your Signature series might be the best thing this 67 year old golfer has seen. I was wondering if you have an order to your drills or an order to someone switching over to your method. In other words which parts of your swing should one incorporate first. I would like to play as I am modifying my swing to your principals. I shoot in the upper to mid 80s.
Thanks CJ. I think you have a really beneficial product.
David MacNab
David MacNab,
Thanks David for the question and your nice compliments. I am happy you are enjoying the product. As to what I would recommend first, I definitely would recommend the short game DVD as this will teach you to score as well as teach you the beginning of the swing and the most important position and that is impact. From there you go to the signature series and the two main drills of the PCGS is the L to L drill and the table top. Let me know where your game is and your misses etc and I will recommend some other drills.

C.J.,
I’m on your 4th free video but cannot help trying what I’ve learned. I’m wondering how to stay connected, because at the top I’m not. Next I reconnect as soon as I can and rotate left as quick as this almost 60 year old player can. One last question is at the top my wrist it is bowed/cupped at contact as Hogan was but just the opposite I guess. What do you want at the top bowed as Hogan was at contact to deloft or opposite? This is probably confusing and if it is contact me by email which you have. Thank You CJ.
Rick Heath
Rick Heath,
Thanks Rick for the question. Keep watching the free videos and see if they help you with the connection problem. A great drill to use is a towel under your armpits. In regards to the wrist at the top it really depends on the grip that is set for you. I do not like a bowed wrist, I like a flat wrist for slicers, and a cupped wrist for people that tend to hook the ball. Hope this helps.
Keep em Long and Straight,
CJ
on my backswing my wrists boe so the club lies flat. this make a driver really hard to control off the tee, I generally hit hooks. from this can you tell me what i’m doing at set up or in my swing?
Sam Butler,
Thanks Sam for the question. You need to get a swingyde. We will be putting this up on our website in our pro shop where you can order this or look online for golf training aids and get this. The flat bowed left wrist causes the club to come in from the inside too much with a closed face…causing the hook or if you hold it off the big push right. Get the club up the wall and really look at your grip. Weak left and strong right hand usually causes this position.
Keep em Long and Straight,

GJ,
I tried the L drill. I don’t get it. I’m a near-scratch golfer who has laid off for a year
and I can’t hit a draw for the life of me–or a straight shot. The ball starts left and fades or starts right and fades. The ball is striking closer to the heel than the toe.
I am coming over the top, slightly. I shot a video. How do I get down to the ball on a more inside track? I’m coming straight back and up the tree, as you advised. But the shoulders still seem to turn slightly forward and get the club moving outside-in.
MInd you, these are half shots with a 7-iron. Easy swings. I cannot hit a straight shot even if I shut down the club face hard. That means I am outside-in. And shutting down the club face will only produce a pull or pull-draw.
Any other advice to get back into the “slot” and down the “line of power”?
Thanks,
John
John Butcher,
Thanks John for the info. Lets keep talking and we can get this fixed. Have you tried keeping your back and rear end facing the target longer on the downswing. Try to feel like this until impact. don’t worry it won’t look anything like that on video. Let me know if you tried this and I can give you other things to work on.

Hi CJ,
I am trying to find the best exercises to improve distance, speed, and flexibility. There was a lot of different exercises for them, but I just would like to find the best ones. In your opinion, what are the best exercises for the list above, and how to do them? Thank you for all your advice, and keep up the great work.
Jeremy,
Thanks Jeremy for the question. I chuckled at your question because it sounds like some of my students in my jr. academy. They are always looking for the quick fix. I think it has something to do with google and the fact that they don’t have to work as hard at things like we did growing up. Somehow this work ethic has translated into golf. All the exercises are good. I think you need to work with all of them and see which ones work best for you, however I recommend doing them all. In order to play this game and gain the power etc it does not come in 30 sec. Please don’t take these comments as a slam, but please give them a try and discover what works best for you. Sometimes the combination of all of them will pay dividends.

CJ,
Your signature series and the other videos have boosted my confidence to the extent that I am wondering if I should invest in some blades.
I play off 22, but in the month since I bought your course my worst round has been twenty over gross and my best twelve over gross. As soon as I can play in some qualifying competitions I expect my handicap realistically to come down quickly to 18 or less.
I have custom-fitted Tom Wishon irons, which I love, but thanks to the improvement in my game I have realised that these clubs are SO forgiving that as long as I make a well-connected swing the ball will file straight in whatever direction I had the club face pointing in my set up. In other words they are too forgiving for me to put any shape to my shots.
I tried a Mizuno 6i (blade) at the range and I was quite comfortable hitting with it. I could certainly shape my shots with draws and fades although obviously they were a long way from perfect and need work to take them to the course.
I’m considering asking my club fitter to replace the 5i thru PW heads with Wishon 555M blades (my wedges are blades and I use hybrids for anything longer than a 5i). Am I crazy to be considering blades with my handicap?
Thanks,
Steve
steve Syder,
Thanks Steve for the question. I am so happy for you that you are improving and enjoying this game so much more. I would wait a bit on the blades, just because your misses will still be better. If you want some forged game forgiving clubs then lets try that first, but please keep me informed on what road you choose.

I hit the ball solid with all my clubs but with the driver i just hit the ball up high in the air with no power.
any tips ?
Hi CJ,
Just wondering do I take my Driver back on the same path (i.e vertical against the wall) as my irons?
Thank for your great tips
Dale

Dale Simmons,
Thanks Dale for the question. I want you to work on your swing with the irons. Remember the backswing is not vertical, but on the shoulder plane. Also when you work on the swing with the irons it will blend into the driver swing. will the swing be as upright with the driver as with the irons? NO. this is due to the length of the club and your setup, but again let it blend. Does this make sense? Let me know.

hey cj i am 13 years old and i play off 10 i have been having trouble recently with fatting the ball i have tried transfering my weight but it is like i am attracted to the ball. do you have any tips for me ?
thanks
griff
Griff,
Thanks Griff. Great players don’t even see the ball. It just seems to get in the way of the swing. Try focusing on your finish and nothing else and understand that the ball just gets in the way. Try hitting a few tees (no ball teed up) and this will help.

Hi CJ
Do want us to feel our arms connected all the way through the swing, pressure between upper arm and chest.
My last round was a disaster and on the back 9 started tucking shirt into armpits all the way through with some success but with low flight.PCGS is the way to go , when i get it working it is pure heaven.
Regards
Ken
Hi CJ
I see you tell people to get the short game DVD.I have them all.Playing this last weekend i could feel my swing was off, pull hooking everything with driver and long clubs, started to use table top drill before each shot with some success, however not great,BUT after practicing the short game lessons in the back yard managed to save par a number of times, the balls under armpit putting drill transformed my stroke and drained quite a few.
Got home and got my daughter to vid my swing to the halfway back and found that my left (glove) hand was too deep almost off my right shoulder, i am now practicing the L to L and concentrating on getting my left hand in the middle of my chest and up the wall, unfortunately i tend to fiddle with my swing and get into bad positions but am now going to concentrate on the fundamentals.Still definitely the best money i ever spent, I urge people to get the PCGS, IT WORKS.
Sorry about the diatribe
Ken
Hi CJ.
Bought your SS and I experienced some increased accuracy with my irons and driver pretty much right away. I worked hard on implementing a new grip based on your lesson, which seemed to really help with the improved accuracy and consistency. However, I now struggle with taking the club too far back (past parallel) and then my left hand (I’m a righty) becomes dis-connected from the club shaft, meaning I’m only holding on with the first couple of fingers of my left hand and the club handle is not connected to the pad of my hand. This causes major problems for me. How can I fix this??!! Thank you.
Greg,
Thanks for the question. First the reason your hand is coming off is because your grip is not on their correctly. Please review my grip video and see if this helps. Let me know if you have this and lets talk. As long as we keep talking I know we can get this fixed.

Hi CJ, I have watched your videos and they are really helpful I have not being on the golf course to try out these steps lately . My biggest problem in golf is ‘slicing’the ball, and once I do it I cant stop, why is this??
steven,
thanks for keeping me informed on your progress. to stop slicing the ball I want you to look at your grip and continue to do the L to L drill. if you need to do the split hand drill to get a feeling of the right hand crossing over then thats fine. Let me know if this helps.

Hi CJ yThanks for the great advice for my High School Golf team in April. The drill in using the forward tees was the turning point in winning District. Again I need your expertise. How can I get hold of your periods workout schedule? I need to have all of my varsity players to score in the 70′s on the coming season. The kids are ready to work.

Something in my swing means I fairly consistently push drives off the tee or fairway woods. Sometimes its a slice but often a clean hit just 20 degrees off course. Yet on the same day I will be pulling iron shots. The long irons its a slightly smothered pull 10 degrees to the left. The short irons are hit clean and go nice and high but often again pulled 10-30 degrees left. Also, I brush the grass but seldom take a divot. From that lot can you diagnose what I’m doing wrong?? In particular how can I push woods AND PULL IRONS with the same swing?
Gerald Holtham,
Thanks Gerald for the question. I can help you. First your clubface is closed. this is the reason for the pulls. When you get a short iron closed there is so much loft that it reduces side spin. Ultimately what your hitting is called a face pull. Second the push is caused by a swing path that is too much from inside. With the driver you are not releasing the face, which is why it is a straight push. Ultimately the face is square to the path and thus results in the push. Does this make sense? Fix…Check your grip to see why the face is closed. Second on your backswing you need to get the club up the wall and this will steepen the downswing a bit for you and have you hitting it straighter. Keep me informed on your progress and lets keep talking. I know I can help you if we keep exchanging dialogue back and forth.

i am 13 years old and have been playing golf for about 10 months now. i was playing off of 26 and consistently playing to it, however recently my driving has been all over the place and my handicap is gradually going up. i have been taking woods and irons off the tee but i feel i shouldn’t just ignore my driver. there is no way of saying whether it will draw, fade or (occasionaally) go straight. Most of the time i am not getting good contact, however last summer i was driving about 225 yards straight. i don’t know what i’m doing wrong. What tips would you give me to help get my driving good again?
Tom,
Thanks for the question. Review the fundamentals and make sure you are tilting slightly to the right with the driver and have 60% of your weight on your back foot at setup. Please let me know if this is new for you and if this helps. Lets keep talking I will get you fixed.
Keep em Long and Straight,
CJ
Hi
I understand that the weight should be on the back foot to facilitate a ‘sweeping’ for the driver and woods.
even weight distribution for irons and rescue clubs
60% on front foot for ‘de – lofted’ chips
but why slightly forward for pitch shots?
On my videos and downloads there is not a full explanation or demonstration of the ‘easy out’ bunker shot.
I tend to be hitting bunker shots too close to the ball too – any ideas?
Thanks
David Radley,
Thanks for the question David. First, lets clear up any confusion we might have. We put 60% of our weight on our right foot with the driver and tilt our spine because the ball is teed up. This will promote an upward swing with the driver, but only 60% with the driver. The 3 wood is about 55% on the right depending on the lie. For chip shots 80% of your weight is on the left side and 60% for pitches. Why? Because in every golf shot except driver we hit down on the ball and because the swing is less than full we need to preset our weight forward because we do not have enough time to get into the impact position. 80% weight left with the chips, if you remember is the same as impact with the full swing. In regards to bunker shots, my answer would be setup. Make sure 60% of your weight is left with the bunkers and this should help. Please let me know how you do and if you haven’t gotten better please let me know. Together we will get this fixed.
Keep em Long and Straight,
CJ
Hi David,
I love the sure-out bunker shot. It is a very static set up as I understand it. By putting the feet wide apart you lower your body and you restict to much body movement. By swinging with little wrist hinge you reduce timing issues. All this reduces the margin of error. By having the ball foreward in youre stance the bottom of the arc of your swing is right from the ball (right handed). If you concentrate to swing your right shoulder through the ball (this is my swing thought: allways turn my right shoulder through the ball), you pick up some sand and lift the ball out of the bunker. However, it is hard to vary the length of the shot and if you are in a bunker with a very high fringe it might not work, but if you are struggling getting out of the bunker (especially if you are in contention or under pressure) you can get back to this technique. CJ, did I understand this correctly?
Thomas
Thomas,
Great explanation Thomas. Well done. Vary the distance by the speed you rotate your body and that will help. Also tweak the face open slightly to hit it a bit higher, but if you are having success with this shot you are ready to move to the normal bunker shot and more advanced shots. Talk to you soon.

when teaching your 10 free lesons do you beleive in taking a divot because nathan green does but noticed you dont i personlally like to take divots
Tristan Lucas,
Yes I want you to take divots. That happens from striking down on the ball. Depending on the club I use will determine the amount of divot I take. Also the area I am hitting from is zoysia so the ball sits up perfectly , but doesn’t create the biggest divots. Hope this answers your question.

Hi,
“You never see Pro golfers anchoring their head” – on the TV-broadcast from the WGC in Doral I saw Vijay Singh on the range – the trainer put the grip of a club onto his head throughout the backswing and the foreward swing until impact. What else is it if not for keeping his head still?
Thomas
Thomas Metschies,
Thanks for the question Thomas. You have to understand what a person’s tendency is. ViJay may be trying to keep his head tall and not losing his posture. He may be moving too much so to keep his head still will promote less head motion. Vijay has a tendency to get too shallow on his downswing so he needs to feel like he is on top of it. Vijay also swings over a shaft and tries to feel like he is coming over the top. I guess your saying I should promote coming over the top as well? Again what your seeing is only half the story, but you need to understand a players tendencies and their misses. Hope this answers your question.

I have been using your 4 series package for about a month now. Drop about 8 strokes per round. I am having some trouble with the L to L method with my driver. I lose a lot of distance even through the hits are more consistent. Why can’t I obtain distance also? Paul
Paul Kaiser,
I want to officially welcome you to the family. Congrats on your awesome success so far. the reason your struggling with the L to L with the Driver is you shouldn’t do it with the driver. that was easy. In all seriousness practice with the L to L drill with your irons and then with the driver don’t worry about it. Make sure your setup is correct and the work with the irons will blend into your driver. Also remember that with the driver the L won’t happen exactly at halfway back as with the irons. Because of the extra length and weight of the driver it will happen but slightly later in the backswing. Hope this helps and keep me informed.

Hi C. J.
I would like to know how I can strick the ball on the sweet spot in iron play, I always seem to only hit half the ball and get no elevation? I have tried all the standard things like keeping my eye on the ball, slow down my back swing, etc. etc. nothing works … Why?
Thanks, Earl
Earl Sager,
Thanks for your comments Earl. Great question and a couple of helpful hints for you. First, get rid of the standard things like keep your eye on the ball, slow down….I know you saw my ten free videos and those should misconceptions should be the first to go for you. What your problem here is your hitting up on the ball. this is also referred to scooping the ball. If you were striking down on the ball even if you thinned it a bit then the ball would still get up in the air. You need to get your hands ahead of the ball thru impact and this is achieved through proper body motion which can be traced to the setup. Have you seen my Signature series DVD? If not lets keep this really simple and first teach you about compression. I want you to hit some knockdown shots. move the ball back in your stance a bit, hands and weight forward, now simply make a 3/4 width swing and have a low finish. This will synchronize the club and arms to the body and in order to hit it low your hands must be in front of the ball. let me know how this works for you and then we can take the next step.

I am 63, had rotator cuff surgery and have been a poor golfer for a long time. I bought the signature series on sale at a ridiculous price. I am still working, we’re in the process of moving–there are a million things going on in my life. I took time to simply practice the drills in the series. Recently I had time to finally play nine holes. I carded my best score ever. I was a consistent “topper”–I did not top one ball. It was fun to hit the ball and see it go. It was so easy, felt so relaxed, it was amazing. This approach is not hard, and I am proof–a high handicap, low skill golfer is on the verge of carding his best scores.
Paul
PS. I tried to log in as a member at the site and failed. I probably did something wrong. Can anyone help?
I have been playing golf for a couple of years and I have bought two other golf instructional videos on-line with not very good results. Mainly because they just didn’t feel right and caused some pain when applied over the course of 18 holes.
I practiced your Perfect Connection swing advice which I find a lot easier to put into practice. I have noticed initally that if I follow the swing from start to finish I am hitting the ball farther and straighter. For me the difference right now is in the follow through into the window of opportunity. So far I like what I see and I can’t wait to get it going in the driver as well.
Thanks for the help.
Eddie,
Thanks for your comments and congrats on your success. Keep me informed.

I have sent this to your e-mail site but your blog may be a better place. I have three questions:
question 1) I have purchased the signature series both electronicly and DVD’s and have downloaded the “bonus” videos, but I do not see the adjustments for the driver you have referred to.
question 2) when practicing the ‘L’ to ‘L’ drill I find that if I put 60% of my weight on my left foot at the start of the swing I get into it better and am better able to swing thru with a straight left arm to the finish. Do you see a problem with using this adjustment when I take my normal stance? I am 76 and do not make as quick a turn as I did when I was much younger.
question 3) My maximum clubhead speed with a conventional swing is 85 mph and with the perfect connection it is also 85 mph. I am not sure how the cocked wrists are supposed to work to increase my clubhead speed. I like everything else about the perfect connection i am very accurate with it and have no aches or pains but like everybody I would love to improve my distance. One of the guys I play with who is 82 outdrives me 25 to 50 yards routinely. Can you help with that?
David Zoller,
thanks for your questions and comments David. IN regards to the L to L drill and your slight tweak to it thats great. If that helps you than run with it. The wrist hinge basically acts as a lever and allows you to support the club (in balance) and swing it faster. Quick speed drill for you to show how this works. turn the club over and grab the shaft near the head but hold the shaft with your right hand only. Now swing halfway back and through as fast as you can and hear the swoosh. make no more than ten practice swings but try to make the swoosh sound louder and louder. try this 3 times a day and eventually try to incorporate both hands into the practice drill. Practicing fast creates speed. Imagine a sprinter training to run fast by jogging. Wouldn’t work. Now that your wrists are working correctly lets sprint a few times and get that clubhead speed up there.

I’m 85 still in reasonably good health. I thought I was getting into a simple swing but after reading some of the comments, it sounds complicated. I don’t have time for grinding out a whole new difficult system. Is your simple and uncomplicated?????How much time is required?????
hugh johnston,
This swing is not complicated at all. This swing is for the everyday golfer and it is super simple. that was definitely a pre-requisite for this swing because unlike Tour players, most players don’t have the time or don’t want to practice for hours and hours to get it perfect. I promise this won’t take much time. Give it a try. thats why we have the guarantee. Let me know your thoughts on the swing.

Would you critique “stack and tilt”? It seems to have helped me make better contact with the ball. Thank you. Randy
Randy Rasmussen,
Without attacking another instructor or belief of others lets say that there is more than one way to skin a cat or swing a golf club for that matter. Stack and tilt instruction wants all your weight left on the backswing and your spine ahead of the ball during backswing and impact. this promotes a strike down( which is good) and it also prevents swaying (which is good) but does promote a reverse weight shift (bad) and promotes a thrust of the hips through impact (bad) because it puts a lot of stress on the low back. Why does it work? Works well for people that don’t cover the ball through normal golf instruction. Why works? They teach sucking the arms in across the body which is what some people do already but it does not promote proper arm rotation in the swing. Why this is bad. Loss of rotation in the arms reduces speed and the reverse weight shift and thrust can really hurt your back. This swing was the craze on tour several years ago, but I have heard some tour players call it the stack and hack now. Many have left this method, but again it works for some. From a mental perspective If I can put my sport psychology hat on the key is to believe in your method…if it works for you…(and won’t hurt you i might add). think simply about putting. Why do some people believe in standard grip, crosshanded, long putters, belly putters, claw grip etc. Because it works for them. I personally don’t like the stack and tilt method because of the potential damage it does to the body. I had a brief lesson with plummer as they were at my course working with a player and hit some nice shots, however it adds stress to spine and low back which I don’t believe is necessary for the golf swing to do.

Two years ago I was introduced to the stack and Tilt by my long time instructor who had been using the hank Haney method with me prior to that. Well it worked pretty good and helped me get into the ball better. When i took it to the course after 6 holes my left knee swelled to twice its normal size and hurt like ****. Needles to say I had to quir playing for a few weeks and then returned to my prior swing. I find the L to L technique much kinder to my body and quite accurate.
David Zoller,
Thanks for your comments and I unfortunately have to agree. There are many ways to swing a club, but not all of them are body friendly. Please keep me informed on your progress.

Mike Austin broke the record for longest drive in senior golf competition 515 yards at the age of 64 and into his 70′s still drove the ball over 350. If there were back problems associated with his swing method it doesn’t seem that his swings created too much stress on his back or elsewhere. Mike Dunaway at the time of developing his video Worlds Longest Driver is up in age and still could pound the ball. If you look at his and Mike Austin’s leg drive just at impact their right foot releases forward which in my opinion relieved any stress opposed to what you are saying about their swing being stress causative.
You mentioned that MD’s swing was due to not as advanced technology. Here is what you said.
Mike uses a little too much leg drive and upper body hang back than what I like, however this was common with the era that he played golf and was also a result of equipment. The clubs and shafts were not as advanced as today and required more timing with the hands than today.
What’s interesting about what you said regarding equipment MD tests clubs for Callaway Golf.
Your video shows you driving your right knee similar to MD’s. What makes your right leg action any different than MA and MD?
And for your information MA and MD advocates cocking the wrist before reaching hip level without turning the hands promoting more accuracy. The right hand on the back swing is bent straight back with no turn which he demonstrates in his right hand swing drill.
After viewing and practicing MD’s swing on his Video WLD I went from hitting from 240 to 300+ with accuracy at the age of 58 at 5’9″ and not very strong by any stretch of the imagination.
One more thing. You mentioned in your video about the right shoulder being slightly tilted down because of the right hand position on the club. MD taught the same thing but he calls it measuring up to the ball which creates a natural tilt in the shoulder and right leg in perfect position in the stance. What’s interesting about the right hip moving to 4 O’clock and then the left hip moving to 10 o’clock is a natural move. Take a club shaft between the arms and back the hips move naturally back and forth. His A Frame drill proves that also.
MD and MA were very, very long and deadly accurate.
The only difference I see is the way you teach about the hands tilting up with less shoulder turn.
Hi
Someone has already asked this question but didn’t get an answer, are you now not part of Performax Golf.
regards
Harry
Hi HARRY,
CJ’s new swing is not a part of performax golf- He broke away to release his new swing that is body friendly and geared towards the amateur golfer.
Please let us know if any other questions,

Harry,
The performax stuff is great, however the main focus of performax was increasing distance. I am still the same person and have taken all the information that I have learned and studied the body with the help of doctors and trainers and motion golf and have developed the perfect connection swing. I no longer have my old information on the performax website as I truly believe in this information. With the help of Motion Golf I have been able to see things about the human body that were not available before and therefore really study muscle firing sequences and golf related injuries. Imagine video as an xray and motion golf as an M.R.I machine. I hope you enjoy the new DVD’s and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

How does your swing compare, mechanically, to Mike Austin’s swing used by Mike Dunaway? It also states that their swing is joint friendly.
Harry,
I like Mike’s flammer because it does keep the club connected and in front of your body. Too often people lose their connection from their arms to their bodies. Changing the relationship of the arms to the body is one of the biggest problems golfers do in their swing and the flammer promotes the connection and the right position at the top. In regards to similar, Mike understood the body and was way ahead of his time. Mike uses a little too much leg drive and upper body hang back than what I like, however this was common with the era that he played golf and was also a result of equipment. The clubs and shafts were not as advanced as today and required more timing with the hands than today. I think with the technology of being able to see the swing and understanding when muscles fire the perfect connection swing is a lot more body friendly and repeatable. Thanks for your questions and your understanding of a great player and his swing. Best of luck

While it’s not the same as the Surge (which I purchased and quickly refunded), it’s the same as every other PGA pro teaching swing. The preview was misleading. You made an emphasis on a more upright backswing, but then the bonus videos show it’s flatter – it’s just overall misleading.
I respect the journey you made, but honestly this feels no different than what has already been published. Even your drills seem to be drills that were grabbed from any drill video on youtube – it’s just not very original. If you are promoting a more upright and shorter backswing, then by all means – do so – don’t go into the next “bonus” videos and show us we need to make a “slightly” less shoulder turn.
I’m sorry, good effort – but the preview had me thinking you were on to something new. If you can prove otherwise, i’d love to hear it. Hope you can take the constructive criticism. At the moment, i’ll be asking for my refund.

Matt,
most golf instructors teach club plane or possibly even elbow plane, but not many are proposing the shoulder plane. Surge teaches vertical which I strongly disagree with. With shorter If you watched You would have also seen wider. Width is the key. In other words I want your hands to the right of your head at the top. the only reason it looks that way is the wrist hinge. The wrists are your strongest lever in your body and I want you to use that to help generate power. The drills that were used are similar. this is still a golf swing and not something new. I am a big believer in drills because I feel it provides the correct feel for students to work on the swing. Obviously without drills that provide feel this would be impossible. this is a video and I cannot personally place my hands onto you to put the club in the correct position if you are not in it. Drills allow students to over emphasize the feeling of the proper position. Feel and real are two different things and these drills that I selected work perfectly for the perfect connection swing and what I am trying to convey to my students. In regards to your refund thats fine. I wouldn’t want any of my students to not be happy with this swing. thats why we guarantee it for a full year. In regards to something new this is new. This isn’t the stack and tilt or something like that that is extremely non-traditional, but although that may be non-traditional and cool, its dangerous. Give me a try and I am sure you will love it.

CJ:
Creating the “L” on the back swing, my left wrist often cups. How can I avoid this? Is it a grip issue, or shouldn’t I worry about it?
Scott Robinson,
The left wrist should cup a little bit during the backswing, however if you feel it is too much than I would definitely look to the grip. Typically if your left hand grip is too strong and your right hand is too weak than you will create a cupping motion during the backswing. Hope this helps.

You are making a carbon copy of the SURGE (Don Trahan) golf swing. Does it not bother you to take advantage of the methods other invented?
Marcos Avellan,
The perfect connection swing is not even close to the Surge’s swing. The theories and concepts and technology used to put the perfect connection swing were not even invented when Don made his swing. Please watch the videos and then make your assumption as it will be quite easy to see the difference. My only problem is that some people assume this is similar to trahan’s golf swing as I do not want this swing associated with that.

C.J. – Are you not part of Performax golf with Nyle Pruitt etc. Have you broken this tie and now pursuing your own golf instruction system?
